Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I'm adding my videos to a catalog, but InfoLayout cannot create thumbnails for them. It shows a message that a processing error occurred. What's wrong?

A. You may not have installed codecs to allow InfoLayout to extract thumbnails for the video. Install the k-lite codec pack
Make sure that Windows Media Player can open your file and that there is no problem with playback. Then try to scan the file again. If that doesn't help, please report the problem.

Q. InfoLayout cannot scan some of my files. What can I do?

A. See the 'Troubleshooting files scanning' article.

Q. Does InfoLayout keep some of the data outside of the catalog (xtdb file)?

A. No, it does not. All information kept in a single xtdb file. Even if you have added all your discs to a catalog including full-text indexes, it's all included in the catalog file. So you can safely back up it on CD or move it to another location.

Q. What should I do if I need different report?

A. Describe what report would you like to see in an email to support@trietech.com. InfoLayout has built-in report design capability, but it is not accessible to users because it requires additional activation. Such a report most likely will be added to the next version of InfoLayout.

Q. What can I do if my favorite files collection has files not supported by InfoLayout?

A. We are always glad to add support for additional file types required by our users. Send an email to support@trietech.com describing the file format that you would like to see in the next version of InfoLayout.
