Supported File Formats
Although InfoLayout is able to add to catalog any file, it extracts additional information from some other files.
Supported formats and features:
Archives |

7z, arj, bz2, cab, cpio, deb, gz, lzh, rar, rpm, tar, z, zip

InfoLayout can process any archived files like any others on your disks. Nested archives are supported as well. Of course it
takes more time for processing archived files but often it's handy to keep files archived and to not unpack them.

Images |

bmp, cut, dds, g3, gif, hdr, ico, iff, lbm, jng, jpg,
jif, jpe, koa, mng

InfoLayout can automatically generate thumbnails for images and put them in catalog. This makes catalog file larger but
it's useful to have thumbnails without disks. Additionally InfoLayout extracts descriptions from images.

Music |

mp3, ape, flac, mpc, ogg, wv, tta, spx, CD-Audio
|
When scanning music files, InfoLayout extracts mp3 tag info so you can search later by individual field like artist, album or
track title. Files in catalog can be arranged by those fields as well. CDDB/freedb supported for downloading info about
CD-Audio disks.

Video |

avi, wmv, asf, 3gp, flv, mpeg

InfoLayout extracts info from video clips such as codec name, frame size, length, bitrate etc. Additionally video thumbnails
can be automatically created and added to catalog.

Documents |
|
plain-text files, doc, html, ppt, rtf, vsd, wri, xls, OneNote*, PDF*,
any other with IFilter interface provided.

InfoLayout can extract to catalog text file's snippet for quick viewing document content and allows to do full-text search
among documents by their content. Full-featured search by keyword, phrase etc.

* To index and search OneNote and PDF files you should install IFilter from Microsoft and Adobe.
